Taj Mahal History

Taj Mahal is located in Agra, in the north of India, near Shahajahanpur and 25 miles from New Delhi.

The construction of this peculiar master piece took nearly 22 years and 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants and to add more beauty every part of this monument was built with white marble bought from all over India and Asia and the total expenditure was 32 million rupees (US $68000).

The central tomb is the major attractive component of the Taj Mahal. The entire structure is very complex and artistic. The most skilled craftsmen, architects, calligraphers, stone carvers and masons were called from all over India, Persia and Turkey. The entire interior and exterior decorations are extremely complex and minute which shows the dedications and talents of the skilled carvers and masons.

The best time to visit Taj Mahal is in the morning as it will have a pinkish glow to it. As the day passes, the pinkish glow turns into milky white colour. Howevr, the radiance of the Taj Mahal under the moonlight is unbelievable, beyond any explanation. The white marble adorned with semi-precious stones stands sparkling like a jewel in the moonlight.
